Consultant for Market Survey & Cooperative Training at UMCOR

The United Methodist Committee on Relief, Non-Governmental Organization (UMCOR-NGO) (www.umcor-ngo.org) is a not-for-profit organization that provides transitional development and relief assistance to communities in need around the world.

UMCOR Indonesia is currently in the process of establishing 4 Cooperative institutions, two in Aceh Besar district and another two in Bireuen district. The cooperatives are undergoing a series of trainings aimed at improving the day-to-day management of cooperative and cooperative businesses.

UMCOR-NGO's Indonesia Mission (UMCOR-Indonesia) is looking for a highly qualified consultant for the following consultancy; Consultant could be a team or an individual by personal or institutional:

I. MARKET ANALYSIS CONSULTANT - to conduct a market assessment in Aceh Besar, Bireuen, Banda Aceh and Medan, in order to gather market information which will help determine whether there is a market for cooperative products, and assist cooperatives in developing marketing plans and selling their products.

The Consultant will conduct Market Chain Analyses and Value Chain Analyses of at least six (Three each from Bireuen and Aceh Besar) identified potential product and or services.

Required Qualifications:

· Graduate or Masters degree in a relevant field

· 5 years of experience in market analysis

· Fluency in English and Bahasa, excellent writing and editing skills in English

· Prior experience developing market survey for INGOs

Duration of consultancy: 3 Weeks

II. COOPERATIVE TRAINING CONSULTANT - to provide a training to four groups of cooperative leaders in Aceh Besar and Bireuen districts on the following topics ;

a. Cooperative values, principles and practices

b. Cooperative organization and management

c. Leadership and Entrepreneurship

d. Business and Human Resource Management

e. Business financial management

f. Product costing and pricing

g. Savings and credit management

h. Production planning and inventory control

i. Production management and quality control

j. Marketing

k. Value Chain Analysis

l. Business Planning

m. Community development planning

n. Information technology and e-commerce

The training will be a combination of theoretical, participatory and practical exercises for the participants.

Required Qualifications:

· Graduate or Masters degree in a relevant field

· 5 years of experience in developing training modules and facilitating in-depth training in business skills, preferably in Indonesia

· Fluency in English and Bahasa, excellent writing and editing skills in English

· Experience with working with small enterprise or cooperative development


Duration of consultancy: 12 weeks
