Position Title : IT Database Assistant
Classification : Employee, Grade 5
Duty Station : Banda Aceh - Indonesia
Type & duration of contract: Special All Inclusive Contract, 3 months with possibility of extension
General Functions :
Under the technical direct supervision of Senior IT Assistant in Jakarta and the overall supervision of the Project Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance and updating of the Database Systems and assisting on the administration and configuration of the IT Network Infrastructure support to the “Sustainable Economic Growth for Aceh” - Bener Meriah and Aceh Tengah Districts” Project in Banda Aceh. In particular, s/he will be responsible for :
1. Undertake to the overall design of the database and application systems
2. Construction of the physical database design consistent with a given specifications.
3. Liaise as necessary with relevant representatives from the stakeholder organisations in designing the database functionality.
4. Programming of the user interface and business logic required consistent with given specifications.
5. Assist projects in the administration and management of the Database Systems and its data in all locations.
6. Implement the necessary changes and updates to the Database Systems and its data, to fulfil present and upcoming programme and donor reporting requirements, as well as attending day-to-day data entry needs.
7. In close coordination with the Program Manager of the project or the delegated staff, implement the necessary security mechanisms at physical and logical levels, to protect data access and confidentiality of the system, including, but not limited to, the provision of appropriate user groups and rights assignment according to specific roles, in compliance with industry-standard security procedures.
8. Provide end-user support for the utilization of the Database Systems in all locations and secure the appropriate mechanisms for accurate and effective data compilation.
9. Implement when necessary, training to end-users to ensure productive use of existing and new versions of the Database System.
10. Coordinate the implementation of regular backups for the Database Systems data in all locations and secure the existence of a centralized data repository for national data.
11. Assist in the monitoring and administration of LAN, Internet connectivity and equipment.
12. Install, configure and upgrade hardware and software for desktops and laptops (Windows, MS Office, Antivirus and in house produced software).
13. Provide onsite end-user support to IOM Staff for helpdesk support when required.
14. Any other duties as may be assigned.
Desirable qualifications:
University degree in computer science or a combination of relevant education and professional experience, particularly in the areas of database management and programming. A minimum of 3 years progressive experience in RDBMS for single/multi-site/distributed databases, particularly with Microsoft products (SQL Server, Access) and MySQL. Holder of an MCDBA certification would be a distinctive advantage. Experience in the use of MS software development products such as Visual Studio or Visual Basic. Web-based and/or client-server database system implementations a distinctive advantage. Advance knowledge of MS Excel for data analysis and statistical reporting.
Have capacity to perform effectively under pressure and hardship conditions, excellent teamwork and communication skills, cross-cultural and gender sensitivity. Able to work with minimal supervision and maintain composure under pressure as well as demonstrate high level of initiative, perseverance and professional commitment to achieve high-quality results. Ability to handle confidential data in a professional, responsible and mature manner.
Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia
