IOM Indonesia is looking for Project Assistant II (Environmental Monitoring Assistant) according to the terms of reference below. Position Title : Project Assistant II (Environmental Monitoring Assistant) Classification : Employee, Grade 5
Duty Station : Banda Aceh - Indonesia
Type & duration of contract: Special All Inclusive Contract, 3 months with possibility of extension
General Functions :
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for environmental and social monitoring according to the laws and regulations of the Republic of Indonesia and Aceh.
The Sustainable Economic Growth for Aceh" - Bener Meriah and Aceh Tengah Districts" project will implement a set of activities which require environmental monitoring according to environmental laws and regulations.
In particular he/she will be responsible for :
1. Training of local business and coffee cooperatives on environmental and social safeguards
2. Ensure all local businesses, cooperatives apply for SPPL to BAPEDALDA and get a SPPL issued before physical implementation starts
3. Coordinate with local BAPEDLDA and provincial BAPEDALDA on all environmental
issues related to the project.
4. Ensure environmental and social safeguards are implemented as stated in the environmental checklist and the individual SPPLs.
5. Constantly update environmental impact database
Desirable Qualification
University Degree in environmental studies and at least 3 years experience working as environmental officer. Extensive experience and knowledge of the latest environmental laws and regulations.
Experience in liaising with governmental and local authorities as well as with international institutions. Sound knowledge of project monitoring and evaluation and project controls. Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
Have strong communications and negotiation skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Drive for results and effective resource management skills. Demonstrated track record in leading and working effectively with colleagues from varied cultures and professional background in order to achieve desired goals. Ability to manage workload within general schedule of work, instructions and standard practices. Strong team player, able to work with minimum supervision and maintain composure under pressure.
Advanced skills in MS-Office applications, experience in MS-ACCESS is an advantage.
Fluently in English and Bahasa Indonesia both verbal and written
