Background / General description
Aceh Development Fund (ADF) in collaboration with Faculty of Engineering Syiah Kuala University, BIMA and An Nisaa’ proposes a sub-project that is very important in advancing the economy of Aceh community. The proposed sub-project is mainly focused on improvement of fish processing industry. Community-economic-empowerment activity in fishery sector is a vital requirement in improving of social economy of Aceh society, especially communities in coastal areas. The condition of socio economy in Aceh which still relies on unprocessed fishery products has become obstacles for the community in exploiting the results of their efforts so that their income will not be maximum. To overcome problem faced by the community, ADF proposes a sub-project entitled “A Green Engineering Approach to Improving Fish Processing Industry in Pidie Jaya and Bireuen Regencies”. Pidie Jaya and Bireuen Regencies are selected as the sub-project locations after extensive survey on their economic potency and intensive communication between ADF and the Local Governments of Pidie Jaya and Bireuen Regencies. Therefore, the proponent believes that the development of processing based economic activities through community empowering and intensive involvement of all parties can stimulate growth of local economic and maintain its sustainability development in the future.
There are 6 (six) activities proposed in this sub-project related with fishery industry development in Pidie Jaya and Bireuen Regencies, namely (1) Providing of Ice Block for Fish Preservation (Pidie Jaya), (2) Renovation and Development of Community-Based Salt Industry (Pidie Jaya and Bireuen), (3) Improvement of Fish Processing Industry and Packaging (Pidie Jaya and Bireuen), (4) Development of Creative Design Industry (Bireuen), (5) Providing of Natural Substance for Fish Preservation (Bireuen), and (6) Marketing and Strengthening of Aceh Fish Trader Association.
Through the proposed activities, high number labors will be recruited and permanently employed, both directly involve within industry activities established in the sub-project (direct beneficiaries) and indirectly through establishment of various small-medium enterprises by the local community supporting main activities under the sub-project (indirect beneficiaries). Growth of enterprises belong to the local community will have significant impact on improvement of business environment through utilization of land, raw material, and human resources. This also creates economic competition that will determine improvement of productivity and competitiveness at the regional and national level. Improvement of productivity in the fishery sector supported by proper use of processing technology and good management practices will give significant added values on the community economic and attract potential investors to do business in Aceh. Then, it is expected that private sector will grow up continuously and give positive impacts on economic growth, poverty reduction, and community welfare improvement.
In order to implement the proposed sub-project, ADF seeks the best qualified and reasonably priced staffs. Their experiences are instrumental which relates directly to the activities within this project. They are knowledgeable on fish related industrial processing, chemical processing industry, environmental monitoring and other crucial issues within Aceh, backed by their credentials and passion to develop the grass roots communities. These qualities are deemed as being center towards the success of the project. These individuals, too, have lengthy essential networks to ensure every objective is met.
Purpose of the Post
The Promotion and Marketing Officer is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the ADF marketing plan. To take responsibility for specific marketing strategies and projects within the department and to assist with the implementation of the post, policy, and strategies.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop (as part of the consortium plan) with the Program Manager the consortium Promotion and marketing plan.
- Oversee the implementation of the strategies in the Promotion and marketing plan.
- Submit regular reports to the Program Mananger.
- Drive marketing strategy, planning, implementation, and measurement for new and existing coaching and development programmes, products, services, and initiatives.
- Create and distribute marketing and promotional materials for all areas of the department.
- To design and create marketing program for products that will and are being produced
- Identify new and/or specific markets, and lead on the development of marketing and comunications initiatives for these groups.
- Provide guidance on branding and logo placement for equipment, including vehicles and printed materials.
- Support the creation of bids for funding and tendering for external contracts.
- Coordinate progress reports to all stakeholders on a regular basis.
- Monitor assigned budgets and assist with budget forecasting
Qualification/Knowledge/Experience Required
- Relevant marketing/communication qualification. Marketing/communication degree or equivalent is desirable.
- Significant experience in a marketing/communication environment.
- Experience of creating and implementing marketing campaigns.
- Experience of project management with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Experience of creating and implementing web strategies, including experience of web content management systems.
- Experience of writing press releases.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form relationships at all levels within and outside of the organisation.
- Good planning skills with the ability to structure own workload effectively, taking account of changing and competing priorities.
- Sound decision making and problem solving skills.
- Knowledge of various cargo handling equipment spare parts.
- Knowledge of negotioation skills.
- Ability to work effectively across a diverse range of programmes.
- Ability to design Marketing Program for new Products
