Maternal and Child Health Integrated Program's (MCHIP's) global strategy is to accelerate the reduction of maternal, newborn, and child (MNCH) mortality in 30 USAID priority countries. In Indonesia MCHIP, a consortium led by JHPEGIO, aims to accelerate the reduction of maternal neonatal morbidity and mortality toward achievement of MDG's 4 and 5. The program objective is to increase utilization of quality district based integrated MNCH services, and practice of health maternal and neonatal behaviors. This 18 month project will achieve its objective by improving practices at the community level, improving clinical services from along the home to hospital continuum and improving management of the district health system. MCHIP will work and within the districts of Bireuen, Kutai Timur and Serang. Save the Children is responsible for the technical on newborn health and community programs, as well as program implementation for District Bireun.
The position we are looking for is:
HEALTH FACILITY SPECIALIST MCHIP - 1 post, based in Bireun (code: HFS-MCHIP)
The Technical Specialist for Facilities based in Bireun will be responsible for ensuring all capacity building and other activities to support improvement of facility based clinical services are implemented according to MCHIP global and Indonesia guidance and standards.
Core Responsibilities:
1. Ensure all capacity building for target facilities (district hospital and puskesmas) is in accordance with MCHIP standards, approaches and guidelines.
2. Ensure program officer have the technical capacity required to support district hospital, puskesmas, kaders, bidan and others, implement activities according to MCHIP guidance and approaches
3. Provide district project staff and partners with regular technical updates based on MCHIP global programs, Indonesia and global programs, lessons learned, best practices in relation to improving quality of clinical services for MNCH
4. Conduct regular field visit to ensure activities are implemented according to project design and provide on-site coaching to facility based staff (Pediatrician, OB/GYN, bidan, and others) to ensure implementation of new learning and methods.
5. Responsible for the production of regular narrative progress and impact reports in terms of activities, implementation and progress against indicators and outcomes according to MCHIP requirements
6. In cooperation with program officer(s) provide information as needed to District Project Manager and MCHIP M and E Officer on quarterly and annual facility based indicators.
7. Support District Project Manager to maintain relationships with key district level stakeholders
8. Attend and provide key district level information for project and stakeholder meetings in Jakarta as requested and administration process follow Save the Children policy and procedure,
JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience and Skills):
* Medical Doctor-Pediatrician (MPH and/or MD), Nurse, midwife
* At least 3 years work experience in supporting quality improvement of health facilities with 2 years experience working on a donor funded program
* In depth knowledge of MNCH
* In depth knowledge of facility improvement methods for MNCH
* Excellent facilitation skills with strong communications skill
* Proven and demonstrated writing and presentation skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia
* Demonstrated ability to write high quality reports and other project documents
* Proven ability to work in a multi-cultural team environment and familiar known with local culture
