U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)/Program Office (PRO) based in Jakarta is recruiting an Indonesian National for the position of INTERPRETER (Post Code: PRO). Salary starts approximately from Rp.9,500,000 per month depending on qualifications, experience and salary history.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION: The Interpreter/Translator/Information Officer is a member of the Program Office (PRO), which is the Mission’s strategy, budget, evaluation, monitoring, project development and outreach office. The incumbent will work with and report to the Development Outreach and Communications Specialist (or his/her designee) and work with the entire Mission, but with a priority for the Front Office and the Program Office. The Interpreter/Translator/Information Officer will provide oral interpretation and written translation for all U.S. staff as well as visitors. Primary responsibilities for simultaneous and consecutive interpretation and translation will be provided for the senior mission management, particularly the Mission Director and Deputy Mission Director, at high-level meetings with Government of Indonesia officials and potential and current local partners. As a public face of USAID, the incumbent will be an active member of the public outreach team located in PRO.
The nature of the position requires that the incumbent be highly knowledgeable in the local development context, international development principles and approaches, as well as USAID’s implementation, procurement and program monitoring mechanisms and procedures, and budgetary processes. The position requires that the incumbent work independently with minimal direction.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:Applicants must have the following:
1). Bachelor’s degree in English is required. Specific training in translating and simultaneous interpretation is required. Course work in journalism, mass communications, and public information technology is also preferred. 2). A minimum of three years of recent professional experience in translation and interpretation (simultaneous and consecutive) with international or western companies is required. Direct public relations experience, communications media, or related experience is highly desirable. Solid writing skills including editing are required as well as strong reading comprehension and verbal skills. 3). Level V professional translator ability in English is required.
SELECTION CRITERIA: In addition to the above criteria relating to education, experience, and language proficiency, the following criteria will also be used to evaluate applicants:
1). Have good organizational skills to assist in planning and directing functions. 2). Have good oral and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills. 3). Have skill in operating word processing equipment and software required as well as portable and classic simultaneous interpretation equipment.
